Tips for Buying Your First Acoustic Guitar

Granada guitars

Buying your first guitar can be a very confusing and sometimes a frustrating experience. Here are some really important things to keep in mind.

  • Visit a reliable and a well known music store like Furtados with well trained staff that actually play instruments and offer warranty/post sales service for all their products. You will need to service or set up your guitar eventually. So, do keep this mind.

  • Acoustic guitars usually come in 4 sizes – 31inch, 34inch, 38inch, 41inch. 31 & 34 are small guitars for kids between 6 to 12 years old. 38 & 41 are usually suitable for adults. Please visit your nearest music store and check these sizes before making up your mind. If the guitar feels comfortable to hold, then that’s the size you’re looking for.

  • Ask for the guitar specifications – Avoid buying guitars made out of substandard wood.

  • Small guitars will never sound as loud as the full size 41 inch guitars.

  • Do not be fooled by appearance. The guitar must sound good. Ask the sales representative to demonstrate the guitar.
