Drum Shell – Oak

Oak is a very strong wood and offers incredible durability and projection. It makes for a good alternative for more common shell materials. It offers a very present sound that has enough low-end to keep the tone round.

Oak drum shells are very rare because oak wood is not an easy wood to work with. Here, we are talking about Japanese Oak and not other types of oak wood, which are more readily available. Oak drums, much like maple, are dense and heavy, but they produce a much brighter and louder tone due to their boosted high-end. But due to the rarity of oak, and how difficult it is to work with, oak drums will significantly be more expensive.
