He was awarded a piano, chamber music and vocal accompaniment diploma at the Paris Superior Conservatory of Music. Then he was admitted to the post graduate cycle and became prize–winner of the France Telecom Foundation.
A disciple of Dominique Merlet, Maciej Pikulski continued his work as a soloist with Clive Britton, himself a former pupil of Claudio Arrau and has been invited to perform as soloist in Russia, India, Sri Lanka, Italy, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Poland and Belgium.
Maciej Pikulski, is well known with Mumbai audiences not only for his accompanying skills with singers, but also for his mellifluous playing and gentle rendition of some of the great works for piano solo, some of which will feature in the solo recital of 1st Aug. The repertoire includes the early ‘Pathetique’ sonata by Beethoven as also his last sonata Op. 111.
Hungarian virtuoso pianist and composer Liszt wrote this devilish Totentanz (Dance of Death) and transcribed many operatic tunes for piano. The themes from the operas ‘Rigoletto’ and ‘Il Trovatore’ will be heard here.
